Hear about the Equidad Group experience ...

"Collaborating with Cathie has been a dream. She has been able to create a proposal that took into account everything we accomplish and painted a picture in 'grant language' that was thoughtful and inspiring. To top it off, she was able to do it in the allotted word count! I highly recommend her company."
- Jim, A Noise Within Theatre
"I don't think I have ever heard anyone acknowledge neurodiversity in the workplace let alone welcome it ... it meant the world to me to hear this being addresses in a positive way."
- David, training participant

“Cathie delivered an insightful, engaging, and impactful presentation on the importance of neurodivergence in the workplace, sparking a crucial conversation within the Latino community. She provided practical examples and suggestions for supporting neurodivergent individuals at work. Additionally, she shared valuable resources to help attendees continue the dialogue, further reinforcing the message of inclusivity and its lasting impact."

- Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers,

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Chapter

CATHIE CHAVEZ-MORRIS

Cathleen Chavez-Morris (she/her/ella/hura) is a Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion expert. Cathie was raised in El Monte, California in a cultural rich community that was also impacted my environmental challenges. Her community was bisected by an interstate highway, identified as a superfund site, and lacked sufficient open space.

Cathie knew early on that she wanted to better understand natural earth processes. She soon realized the importance of understanding human impacts on the environment. Her interests later evolved into a passion around understanding how policies and programs shape communities. She has over 20 years of experience working in civil service at the local, state and national level where she has managed major environmental initiatives and launched the first diversity, equity and inclusion office at a municipal utility serving a major metropolitan city.

Chavez-Morris graduated with a B.S. in Geological Sciences from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an M.S. in Environmental Studies from California State University, Fullerton. She also has an Executive Education certificate from Cornell University in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and a Public Policy certificate (focused on workplace and public services equity) from Harvard University. She is a 2022 Duke University Water Innovation Leadership Development Fellow and 2023 Transformative Justice Infrastructure Fellow. She is presently enrolled in the inaugural class of the Clean Equitable Energy Development program at Yale University.

Land Acknowledgement: Equidad Group occupies traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Tongva, Kizh and Gabrieleno people that is now known as San Gabriel, CA. We honor and pay respect to their elders and descendants — past, present, and emerging — as they continue their stewardship of these lands and waters. We acknowledge that settler colonization resulted in land seizure, disease, subjugation, slavery, relocation, broken promises, genocide, and multigenerational trauma. This acknowledgment demonstrates our responsibility and commitment to truth, healing, and reconciliation and to elevating the stories, culture, and community of the original inhabitants of the communities we work in. We are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these ancestral lands and play a small part in daylighting indigenous history and contributions.
